DISTINCTIVE DWELLING

Some additions find the balance between feeling like a part of the existing house and standing apart.
Careful consideration made this addition feel gracious and flow together.

The sloping site meant that the addition opened up space below for the perfect mudroom, a deck that flows seamlessly from kitchen down to the backyard, overlooking a new plunge pool for tons of summer fun.

We tied the newly open space of the living room and new bar together by extending the existing coffered ceiling detail one more bay and repeating it with a tray ceiling over the bar. A curved wall at the pantry, echoed by the custom farmhouse table for the breakfast corner, enhances the flow.

The whole space feels warm and welcoming, just like sitting by the new fireplace.

We are gutting and rehabbing a 120+ year old multi unit building, floor by floor while occupying the other floors, which has had many twists and turns. Damon and his team at Mix Design have been key to making my very complex project doable. If Mix can make my project happen, I am confident they can help you too.

Damon was so good about returning our calls and explaining things to us. We’d recommend Mix because they are qualified, creative, humble, and easy to work with. We no longer have a rat infested attic, but a beautiful 3rd floor suite that brings a smile to everyone’s face immediately!
